The Choices We Make

I once heard someone say that life is the sum of our choices. Is it? I don't think so. Some things happen in our lives that are entirely out of our control. Yet, some of those things could have been avoided had we made different choices. Just ONE choice could affect the rest of your life, your spouses' life, and even your children's lives. For example, let's say you cheat on your mate. The person you cheat on your mate with has herpes. You get pregnant. Your doctor doesn't know you have herpes when he/she delivers your baby. Your baby is exposed to an active case of herpes during delivery and this results in your baby's death. Do you see how that one decision to give in to lust resulted in losing your child? I know that this example may seem over the top, but in reality, it could happen.

We make good choices and bad choices. The thing is every choice we make will be followed by a consequence. Some of these will be inconsequential and small in comparison to what could happen. Some will be monstrous leaving us only to ask "Why me?" God will allow bad things to happen in our lives based on the bad choices we make. On the flip side, God will allow abundant blessings to occur in our lives for making the right choices.

This is so important!!!! We all need to think about the choices we are making in our lives. Do you want one choice you didn't give much credence to ruin the rest of your life, or ruin someone else's? I know I don't. I've seen the choices I've made affect my lives and the lives of those around me. I've also witnessed the choices others make affect their lives.

So, THINK before you have that drink and decide to drive yourself home. THINK before having unprotected sex. THINK before letting your heart believe that other person would make you so much happier than the one you have. THINK before quitting your job. Or it could be something as simple as THINK before you open your mouth to say what just crossed your mind.

Life is made up of choices. Choices we make and choices others make for us. Life is made up of choices that can make or break us.God gives us the free will to make our own choices. Keep your eyes on God, and your choices will make you, not break you.
